On January 30-31, the HiReach team joined the first workshop organized by the SMARTA consortium titled “Time to Rethink Rural Mobility”. SMARTA is a two-year project which aims to understand the current relevance and future potential of on-demand and shared mobility services integrated with public transport in the European rural areas.
The event focused on showcasing innovative, tested solutions from European rural areas, as well as on the analysis of the elements that drive successful rural mobility initiatives, ranging from social aspects, policy, financing to ICT solutions.
The scope of the workshop was to bring together mobility stakeholders to hear, discuss and provide their perspectives and recommendations on the current situation of rural mobility in Europe.
The HiReach partner, Mr Cosimo Chiffi from TRT, explained the conditions of transport poverty and presented the project’s fieldwork activities implemented in rural and remote areas as well as the first results derived from this work. You can check the presentation at: https://bit.ly/2VehppV
